About Me
Hello! I'm Matt Enright, a former Health and Scott County Reporter for the Quad-City Times. Currently, I'm in the job market again and looking for the right fit for my skills and experience. In my time as a reporter for the Quad-City Times in Iowa and The Independent in Rhode Island, I've strived to be fair and objective while informing my readers of what's going on. I have also found fun and interesting features along with stories that inspire.
Now more than ever, quality journalism is vital to our lives. I've worked hard to provide that to my readers and look forward to providing it to wherever I work in the future. That being said, it's also important to have fun-hence my photo.
Work Experience
Quad-City Times Health Reporter
From January 2019-March 2020, I reported on a wide variety of issues that affected the people of the Quad-Cities. In cities along the Mississippi River and in both Iowa and Illinois, I covered the privatization of Medicaid in Iowa as well as the ongoing struggles to fund mental health. I also wrote about the two major hospital systems, Genesis Health System and UnityPoint Health-Trinity.
The Independent South Kingstown Reporter
From August 2018-December 2018, I covered my hometown of South Kingstown in Rhode Island. During that time, I reported on the 2018 municipal and statewide elections, including a debate between candidates for Governor of Rhode Island. I also worked to educate readers about the ongoing issue of school improvements in South Kingstown, an issue that saw several first-time candidates elected to the School Committee.
The Independent Narragansett Reporter
From August 2016-August 2018, I covered Narragansett, including municipal elections and the ongoing issue of library funding.
Education
2010-2014

Bachelor's Degree in Communications, specializing in Journalism
During my time at Villanova, I learned much about the history of journalism and best practices. Some of the classes I took related to journalism were on sportswriting and science and environmental journalism. Other communications classes included public speaking and performance.
