Blueberries for president? My experience training as a first-timer for the 2020 Iowa caucus

As a journalist who'd only covered elections in Rhode Island before, knowing that I would be called upon to be embedded at a caucus site the night of the Iowa caucuses was an intimidating prospect. So I decided to go to a caucus training, and learn about what I needed to represent an accurate picture of the first-in-the-nation process to the world.
"I sat there, undecided.
Things were tense. I was uncommitted but had to make my decision quickly. I was being lobbied from two different directions.
Finally, I chose. I made my way to the cause I now believed in, the one I had been converted to and would later argue for: blueberries."
