This is the first article for the Independent that I remember coming up with the idea for, going to the event and writing it. I saw it while preparing a section for the paper in my time as editorial assistant and thought it would make a good feature. I'm glad I did.
"In a time when religion seems to be more polarized, it’s striking to see the senior pastor of a Christian church and the imam of a Muslim mosque breaking bread together in friendship.
That was the case at Kingston Congregational Church in Kingston Saturday, as its members joined members of Masjid Al-Hoda, the Muslim Community Center at the University of Rhode Island, for a halal dinner, a tour of the church complex, and a brief program on the teachings of the United Church of Christ. Close to 100 people attended the event."
